No students have dropped the class so far. Unlike Finite Mathematics, where class
attendance often runs as low as 60%, there are almost never fewer than 20 students
in the Business Mathematics I classroom. At the end of the tenth week of classes, all 22
students are passing the course with a grade of C or better, as compared with a
drop/failure rate of about 35% for the traditional course. This is particularly
impressive, considering that more has been expected of these students than is expected
in a course such as Finite Mathematics. With registration for Spring 99 not yet
completed, 18 of the original 22 have signed up for Business Mathematics II.
