BA DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
2004-2005
Students seeking a BA in Mathematics must have fourth semester proficiency in a second language.

Since the BA degree is not science-intensive, students seeking the BA in Mathematics need not complete science requirements outside those specificed in the University general education requirements.

Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree Options:
Comprehensive Option: Students planning to go on to graduate sudy in mathematics or applied mathematics should choose the comprehensive option.

Computer Science Option: This option is meant for those students interested in applications of computers to mathematical problems, including most math majors who plan to go to graduate school in Computer Science.

Economics or Finance Option: This option is for students with a particular interest in business applications of mathematics, especially those preparing for graduate school in either Economics or Finance.

General/Applied Mathematics Option: This option is meant for those students who intend to enter the job market upon graduation.

Mathematics Education Option : This option is for students preparing to teach mathematics at the secondary school level. The Education Option has two components, a set of courses in mathematics and a set of courses in teaching and learning mathematics in secondary schools.

Probability and Statistics Option: Students who choose this option can consider going into actuarial work or applied statistics on graduation or continuing on to graduate studies in Statistics.
