Title: History of the Equations of Fluid Dynamics
Abstract: The equations of fluid dynamics are associated with Euler, Navier and Stokes.
However many more of the leading mathematicians and scientists were involved. The
story spans over 200 years and intertwines with those of the law of energy conservation,
of thermodynamics, of the kinetic theory of heat, of statistical physics, and of the theory of
partial differential equations. This story clarifies how the various systems of these equations
are related.
